Known for its local artists and rich history, Merrickville is part of the Merrickville-Wolford municipality and is situated in Leeds and Grenville. roughly 45-50 minutes away from Ottawa. Located along the Rideau Canal, the picturesque village is surrounded by heritage buildings and historic sites. 

As of 2016, the municipality is home to 3067 residents, a 7.6% increase from the 2011 Census. The residents are primarily English speakers at 92.4%; French as a first language makes up 3.9% of the population. 

Merrickville's history dates back to 1794 when Loyalist settler William Merrick discovered and founded the village. As someone who was fascinated by waterpower, William used the land to build and operate mills.
