Welcome to Casselman!

Casselman is a village located about 36 minutes (roughly 55.4 km) from downtown Ottawa. It is nestled between Ottawa and Montreal and is part of the United Counties of Prescott and Russell. The village acquired its name from Martin Casselman, who built a sawmill close to where the town sits now in 1844. 

As of 2016, the village has a population of 3,548. At 79.3% of the population, residents speak primarily French, while only 1.9% reported that they are bilingual.

Casselman is approximately 41 minutes (65 km) from Algonquin College, 37 minutes (57 km) from Carleton University, and 32 minutes (53 km) from the University of Ottawa.


The village is home to a few family-friendly attractions. 

You can make a day trip to the High Falls Conservation Area (Riviere Nation N Rd), which is a free public park that has 5.5 acres to explore. It is well known for its scenic views and is well shaded for comfort. Another bonus is that the park is dog-friendly!

Casselman is also minutes away from the St. Albert Cheese Factory, where visitors can buy cheese and local products. There is also a restaurant and visitor centre/museum inside the factory! 

For beer enthusiasts, you can check out the Microbrasserie Cassel Brewery on 2 Racine Street.
